After breakup, Matteo focused on race, 'Paraiso'
MANILA, Philippines -- Almost two months after the confirmation of his breakup with former girlfriend Maja Salvador, actor Matteo Guidicelli is intent on turning his attention to his upcoming projects -- and away from the dating scene.
"No, I am not dating anybody," Guidicelli, 23, told ABS-CBN News on Tuesday, when asked if he started dating again after his separation from Salvador.
"'Yung dine-date ko lang ngayon 'yung triathlon ko eh," he added, referring to his participation in the upcoming Xterra Off-Road Triathlon Championships in Maui, Hawaii on October 28, where he, along with four others, will represent the Philippines.
Joining Guidicelli in the international triathlon race is TV personality Drew Arellano.
"Halos araw-araw nag-te-train ako, so I'm concentrating -- on my career, with my new soap coming up and my world championships at the end of October," said Guidicelli, who has participated in several Xterra Philippines races since 2010.
Before he entered showbiz, Guidicelli represented the Philippines in international go-kart races, and brought pride to the country by being a three-time winner of the Karter of the Year award.
Now five years since he first appeared on TV as an actor, Guidicelli will topbill an afternoon romance series opposite actress Jessy Mendiola.
Formerly titled "Isla," the "Precious Hearts Romances" offering, according to Guidicelli has been re-titled "Paraiso" (see teaser trailer above).
In the series, the Kapamilya actor plays a rich businessman, Brennan, whose life takes an abrupt turn when he is stranded on an island with a stranger (Mendiola).
Directed by Rechie Del Carmena and Nico Hernandez, "Paraiso" will premiere on ABS-CBN in October, according to Guidicelli.
