What to expect in Anne Curtis' 'E! News' special
Actress recalls wardrobe malfunction, public romance
MANILA -- Anne Curtis appeared to hold back tears as she recalled her controversial wardrobe malfunction in 2010 -- one of the topics discussed at length in a TV special airing in parts of Asia on Sunday.
In a sneak peek of "E! News Asia Special: Anne Curtis" released on the program's official Facebook page, the 28-year-old actress is seen recounting the on-stage mishap and the subsequent circulation of photos of the incident.
"It didn't sink in when it happened. I was like, 'Oh!' At the time, it was like, 'Dear, this just happened,' and I went out and did other production numbers on the stage.
"It only really hit me when tabloids were coming out with it, and they weren't even blurring the image, they weren't... I was just like, 'What is this?'" she said.
Curtis was taping for a summer special episode of the musical variety show "ASAP XV" in March 2010 when the wardrobe malfunction took place. As she was dancing on stage, the right part of her bikini top folded and accidentally showed her right breast.
A photo of the incident went viral on social networking sites like Facebook, and also landed in different gossip sites, blogs and tabloids.
The actress' look-back at the controversy will be featured in an episode of "E! News Asia," which will air on September 29 at 7:30 p.m. on SkyCable Channel 57, Cignal Channel 25 and Cablelink Channel 33.
In the same preview clip released online, Curtis also talks about a relationship which she said suffered from being in the limelight.
"That was a big journey, and I think a big lesson in my life as well in terms of relationships and... It was so public, and I think that makes it very hard, when both people in a relationship are public figures, because everyone wants a piece of it," she said.
Among Curtis' known previous relationships were with actors Sam Milby, Richard Gutierrez and Oyo Boy Sotto. She is now in a relationship with celebrity food blogger Erwan Heussaff.
At the sidelines of a launch party held Wednesday night for her "E! News Asia" special -- the first to feature a Filipino personality -- Curtis said she feels nervous about the parts of the episode where her friends and family will give their own "tell-all."
According to Curtis, among the personalities who were interviewed for her "E! News Asia" special were Milby, film director Ruel Bayani, TV host Boy Abunda, long-time friend and actor Luis Manzano, sister Jasmine, and parents James and Carmen.
"Hindi nila sinasabi sa akin kung ano 'yung mga sinabi nila, so I'm nervous at the same time excited kasi tell-all daw eh. May Manzano pa, kaya sabi ko, 'Patay tayo diyan!' I'm sure maraming kinwento 'yun, 'di ba.
"They interviewed kasi the key people in my life eh na meron akong na-share, so hindi ko alam kung ano ang mangyayari. Sobra akong excited! I mean, paano kaya nila binuhol? ... So excited ako pero kinakabahan pa rin ako kasi, 'Ano kayang mga sinabi ng mga 'to?'" Curtis said.
Asked for her message to Manzano, who reporters noted might reveal some things she would prefer to keep private, Curtis laughed, saying, "Lagot ka talaga, pag meron kang binuking sa akin na hindi mo dapat ibuking, lagot ka talaga sa akin!"
As to why Heussaff is not among the interviewees in the "E! News Asia" episode, Curtis explained her boyfriend, despite being seen with her at public events, "is still very private."
"When it comes to his restaurants and his cooking, all out 'yan. But when it comes to our relationship, he chooses to be more private. I think it works. Me, I'm very comfortable talking about my relationship, pero I also have to respect 'yung kanya," she said.
Quizzed on their supposed engagement, Curtis held up her hands to the cameras, as if to show she isn't wearing a ring.
"But, you know, when the day comes," the actress said, referring to a possible marriage proposal, "Malalaman niyo naman. I mean, sa pagkabaliw ko, hindi ko naman maitatago 'yon."
