What's next for Coco Martin
Actor says film version of 'Juan dela Cruz' in the works
MANILA - Coco Martin is looking to make a comeback on the big screen after the hit series "Juan dela Cruz," which will air its final episode this October.
"After this, kahit one week lang na pahinga. Pero may gagawin siguro akong movie. Gusto ko gumawa ng isang mainstream at indie pagkatapos ng 'Juan dela Cruz,'" Martin said during a press conference held Thursday afternoon for the primetime series' October 25 finale.
The 31-year-old actor said that if given a chance, he would like to do a horror film with actress-host Kris Aquino, who is dubbed the "Queen of Horror" after starring in hits like "Feng Shui" and "Segunda Mano."
"Gusto kong gumawa ng horror movie. 'Yung comedy hindi talaga. Siguro pitik-pitik. Pero gusto ko horror at may konting action," he said. "Kung may pagkakataon gusto ko makasama si Ms. Kris Aquino."
Known for his roles in acclaimed independent films, Martin went on to star in mainstream movies as an ABS-CBN artist. His last film, the romance-drama "A Moment in Time" co-starring Julia Montes, was released in February this year.
Martin said he is also looking forward to reprising the Juan dela Cruz character, as he bared plans of a film adaptation of the primetime series.
"Siguro after nitong 'Juan dela Cruz,' kapag final na 'yung script at meetings para sa production, saka pa lang mapa-finalize kung kailan ang shooting at kung kailan din ito ipapalabas.
"Actually nakaplano naman talaga, pero ako, hanggang 'di pa nag-start ang meeting, hindi ako umaasa. Pero sana ay matupad na madala sa pelikula. Baka next year po," Martin said.
Airing weeknights after "TV Patrol," "Juan dela Cruz" sees Martin as the everyman-superhero who is torn between being the prophesied "Tagabantay" and being the "Anak ng Dilim."
