If Aiza Seguerra fears one thing as far as her singing career is concerned, it would have to be this: being labeled as a "one-hit wonder."

With hit song "Pagdating ng Panahon" and an international album that climbed to No. 1 spot in Singapore, it is hard to imagine that Seguerra would suffer such fate.

But instead of resting on her laurels, she said she focuses on working hard and not allowing success to get into her head.

"Kayod lang. Ayokong isipin [na sikat na ako], mahirap. Ayokong maging one-hit wonder. Kung baga hangga’t kaya kong gawin ang best ko, gagawin ko na lang. Ayokong ipasok sa ulo ko kasi [baka] masyado akong matuwa," she said.

Seguerra guested on "Mornings@ANC" Monday to discuss her first international album called "Open Arms." The international debut album was released in Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Japan, and Vietnam.

S2S Productions released her album in Singapore. "Open Arms" reached Gold status in Singapore and its carrier single, "Smooth Operator," topped the Jazz chart there.

So, how did S2S Productions end up producing her first international album?

"Ang Star Records nag-send ng samplers. Tapos noong nakuha ng S2S ‘yong sampler ng sa akin, nagustuhan nila ‘yong sound. Tumawag sila sa Star tapos tinawagan ako ng Star kung interested [ba ako] to do an international album. Bakit hindi, di ba?" she said.

She recalled that initially she thought it was just a joke and that it would not push through until she was informed that officials from S2S wanted to see her perform live.

"Hanggang sa nagulat ako, pupunta [sila] dito to watch me. Isa sa mga gigs ko. Tapos nag-contract signing [na]. Ang bilis," she said. "I’m very lucky. Hindi sila nagsabi [na] bawal kang mag-shirt pag nagsho-show. Bawal kang mag ganito, walang ganoon."

“Everyone can relate”

In the Philippines, meanwhile, the album is being distributed by Star Records and its carrier single is "Home," originally done by Michael Bublé.

"Sa trabaho natin lagi tayong umaalis. Sa tooto lang kahit nasa ibang lugar, maraming nakikitang tao, of course, mami-miss mo ang bahay mo. Ma-mi-miss mo ang mga tao na nasa paligid mo na mahal mo. I think everyone can relate to the song," she said.

Her album contains all revival songs. Aside from "Home" and "Smooth Operator," the other songs are Vincent, Time After Time, I Can’t Make You Love Me, Open Arms and Somewhere Over the Rainbow.

"Ginawang ganoon para kahit papaano medyo makilala muna ako ng market," she said when asked why the album contains all revival songs.

As for promoting her album in Singapore, Seguerra said: "Last time akong nagpunta doon for distributors lang ng album, mga retailers nila para lang makilala nila ako. Five songs [ang kinanta ko]. Very appreciative naman sila."

Seguerra is also set to fly back to Singapore and stay there for three weeks for the stage play "Avenue Q."
