'My heart is all fixed,' says Janice
MANILA, Philippines -- At 43, actress Janice de Belen is now past the heartaches from her previous relationships, and has even found happiness in being single.
"My heart is all fixed. Wala lang space para sa ibang tao," de Belen told reporters on Monday, when asked if she is ready to fall in love again.
The life story of the Kapamilya actress, who rose to fame for her portrayal of "Flordeluna" as a child actress in the 1980s, has unfolded before Filipino audiences over the years.
Not a few know of her teenage romance with actor Aga Muhlach, with whom she has a son, Luigi. The romance between the two bloomed as they co-starred in a number of films in the 80's, among them "Super Wan-Tu-Tri" (1985).
Before Muhlach, at age 14, de Belen was also known to be in a relationship with actor Gabby Concepcion, with whom she was paired as "love team" in numerous films such as "Puppy Love" (1982) and "Aking Prince Charming" (1983).
As a young adult, de Belen would later be involved with actor John Estrada, the man she eventually married in 1992. Almost a decade and four children later, the couple's relationship was rocked by reports of Estrada's alleged infidelity. After their separation in 2002, their marriage was annulled in 2004.
In earlier interviews, de Belen had expressed she is no longer willing to open communication lines with Estrada, who is now married to former beauty queen Priscilla Meirelles.
Since her separation from the actor-host, de Belen said she has been happily single -- for the most part, at least.
"Of course, hindi naman magpapa-impokrita at sasabihin kong okay all the way. Syempre may mga times, may mga bouts of loneliness na iniisip mo, ano kaya kung may kasama ka sa buhay," she said.
"Tapos you snap out of it. Hihingi ka pa ba, eh ang ganda ng mga nangyayari sa'yo," she added.
In 2011, de Belen successfully made her television comeback via the ABS-CBN drama series "Budoy."
She has since appeared in a number of TV shows and films, including the horror film "The Healing" and the independent film "Mga Mumunting Lihim." In December, her return to the "Shake, Rattle & Roll" series of films will hit theaters nationwide.
On television, she currently hosts a celebrity cooking show and the showbiz-oriented talk show "Showbiz Inside Report." She also currently topbills the primetime soap "Ina, Kapatid, Anak" along with Kim Chiu and Maja Salvador.
"Itong ginagawa ko kasi, dapat ginagawa ko nung mga 20 pa ako, hindi ngayong ito na ang age ko. [Pero] ine-enjoy ko. For me, this is me time, and everything I'm doing is for me, time for me," she said.
