Pinoy Dream Academy's Bugoy presents rags-to-riches story in MMK
Pinoy Dream Academy (PDA) Season 2’s First Star Dreamer Bugoy Drilon will share his real life struggle to fulfill his dreams in the country’s longest running drama anthology “Maalaala Mo Kaya” (MMK), hosted by Ms. Charo Santos-Concio, this coming Saturday, October 11.
Drilon told abs-cbnNEWS.com that he is thrilled but at the same time anxious while waiting for the reactions of television viewers and his family.
“Happy po ako pero hindi ko alam kung ano ang magiging reaksyon ng tao at saka pamilya ko,” he said.
Drilon said that he was really happy doing his scenes for MMK. He shared that he taped for almost a day and revealed that he would be appearing on the last part of the show.
The singer said that the show is worth watching since they will learn things about poverty, perseverance and success.
“Abangan nila kung paano nagsimula ang Bugoy noon sa Bugoy ngayon. Matutunan nila na kahit anong mangyari, keep on dreaming at keep the fire burning,” he said.
Drilon again appealed to his fans to watch the show and to continue supporting his other projects.
“Maraming maraming salamat po sa lahat ng sumuporta sa akin… alam ko po you’re the best. Sana po ay manood kayo ng Maalaala Mo Kaya. Sa Saturday na po iyon. Iyon po ang true life story ko po. Salamat po,” Drilon said.
PDA2 1st runner up
This Saturday the MMK will feature the story of Jay Bogayan or Bugoy, a farmer’s son was born from an impoverished family in Ocampo, Camarines Sur. He dreamt of finishing his studies and performing on stage. But his dreams were put on hold when his father slipped into despair, devoured by his insecurities as head of the family.
Drilon’s father became an alcoholic and his relationship with son Bugoy deteriorated.
Young as he was, Bugoy harbored ill-feelings towards his father. It prompted him however to persevere and not to depend on his father. To make his dreams come true, he worked as a janitor in a university.
Soon, a big opportunity came his way when Pinoy Dream Academy accepted him as one of its scholars and, in the end, the former janitor emerged as PDA’s 1st runner-up.
Success may have come to Bugoy, but he said the greatest lesson he learned after all these was that, his father will always be his father no matter who and what he is. As a son, Bugoy’s unfailing love for his father would always be his greatest achievement.
In MMK, singer Mark Bautista will portray Bugoy. Joining Bautista are stars Malou de Guzman, Soliman Cruz, Paw Diaz, Sarah Palad with the special participation of PDA’s mentor Monet Silvestre, Hansen Nichols, Maria Lizel Garcia and Chivas Garcia.
Catch Bugoy's debut acting performance in MMK this Saturday after "Komiks Presents: Tiny Tony" only on ABS-CBN.
