Carmen Soo to celebrate b-day in RP

MANILA - Malaysian star Carmen Soo flew to the Philippines recently to endorse a new cosmetics line and celebrate her upcoming birthday here.
The actress, who will celebrate her birthday on October 14, said she decided to extend her stay here to spend time with her friends.
Musical variety show “ASAP ‘09” on Sunday threw an advance birthday party for her. She also took part in “Magic for A Cause,” a Star Magic’s charity fashion show, to help thousands of Filipino flood victims.
“It’s my first fashion show in the Philippines. And I think the best thing is everyone comes together for charity,” she said.
She is also celebrating the nomination of her teleserye with Jericho “Echo” Rosales, “Kahit Isang Saglit,” at the 37th International Emmy Awards.(Read abs-cbnNEWS.com's story on the Philippine nominees in the competition)
The Malaysian actress said a Filipino friend sent her a text message about the nomination and she went online immediately to verify the message.
“I was very proud, very surprised. And I texted everyone. I texted Echo as well and my co-actors in Malaysia,” she beamed. “It’s really amazing. It (the nomination) was farthest from our minds when we were making [Kahit Isang Saglit], so I’m very proud.”
She added that this is a victory for both the production teams from the Philippines and Malaysia.
“We went through so much to really get to this production,” she said.
The drama series is a landmark project aired both in the Philippines and Malaysia. It was shot in both countries, marking ABS-CBN's first collaboration with a Malaysian production group, Double Vision.
Soo also congratulated Angel Locsin whose performance as a she-wolf in “Lobo (The Wolf)” merited a nomination under the best performance by an actress category.
From the Philippines, Soo is headed to Singapore to shoot a television series. She just finished doing a play in Malaysia. -Bernie Franco, ABS-CBN.com
