'Shake, Rattle & Roll' returns with 14th installment

MANILA, Philippines -- After earning raves for his portrayal of the "psychotic" Nathan in ABS-CBN's top-rating series "Walang Hanggan," Paulo Avalino will don a soldier's uniform in his upcoming big screen outing.

In an episode in the fourteenth installment of the long-running horror film anthology "Shake, Rattle & Roll (SRR)," Avelino will star alongside Kapamilya teen star Ella Cruz, and actors Martin Escudero, Makisig Morales and Dennis Trillo.

On its official account on social networking site Facebook, Regal Films shared Monday a "first look" image (above) of Avelino as a soldier, muddied and in full gear, as he appears in "The Lost Command."

"Lost Command" is one of the three episodes in "SRR," along with two others.

An official entry to the upcoming 38th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), "SRR" will also feature an apoclyptic episode starring Vhong Navarro and actress Lovi Poe. According to the "It's Showtime" host, "Unwanted" shows the end of the world as it happens inside a mall.

Kapamilya actress Janice de Belen, meanwhile, will make her seventh appearance in the "SRR" series via a reunion episode with actor-politician Herbert Bautista and actress Arlene Muhlach, who, along with the "Showbiz Inside Report" host, both starred in the first-ever "SRR."

Known for its yearly theatrical offerings, the popular horror anthology released its first installment in 1984. In 2005, the Regal Films-produced series returned with its seventh installment, which was then followed up with annual sequels.

Directed by Chito S. Roño, "Shake, Rattle & Roll 14" will hit theaters on Christmas Day.
