Blakdyak: 'Illicit affair changed my life'

MANILA - Some 8 years ago, rap artist Blakdyak looked emaciated, with his eyes sullen and seemingly uninspired, his dusky skin as dark as his shady deals.

Today, he is bubblier and more vivacious, his pair of eyes always flash with hope and care, and his skin is smoother and healthier.

It is because he has turned away from drugs and vices like cigarettes, liquor, and gambling.

“Mas maligaya na ako ngayon. Alam ko na ang direksyon ng buhay ko,” a proud Blakdyak (Joey Formaran in real life) says.

His happiness is also attributed to his current flame, Twinkle Estanislao, with whom he has 4 children. The couple met almost 9 years ago, when everything was topsy-turvy in his life.

“No’ng una, hindi ko alam kung bakit ako na-in love kay Blakdyak. Parang magic eh. Kasi, I was married [at that time]. Yes, officially married to the man I loved. We had a kid, pero na-in love ako kay Blakdyak,” shared Estanislao, who acts as Blakdyak's manager.

Happy ending?

Twinkle had known Blakdyak, who was also married, through a common friend who introduced them. At the time, the rap artist was hooked on drugs and everything was remiss.

In the beginning, Formaran and Estanislao had an illicit affair. Estanislao's husband would follow the cavorting couple and threaten to harm them, but the two stood fast. Estanislao's husband eventually gave up and went abroad instead.

Blakdyak's wife also got fed up with her husband's extra-marital affair and left him.

“Na-in love ako kay Blakdyak dahil gusto kong patunayan na mali ang sinasabi nila na mayabang siya at masama ang ugali. Napatunayan ko na tama ako. Mabait na tao si Blakdyak dahil 8 years na kami,” said a happy Estanislao.

During Blakdyak’s hiatus from the Philippine rap scene, he was in Japan, singing and performing in many cities. Now, he is back in the limelight with a new record album with "The Tribe."

The singer had previously shot to fame with catchy Filipino songs like "Modelong Charing" and "Good Boy."
