Coco Martin plans to marry at 35
MANILA, Philippines -- Actor Coco Martin is not in hurry for marriage but sees himself settling down at the age of 35.
In an interview with Anthony Taberna in "Tapatan ni Tunying," which aired on Thursday, Martin, who turns 32 next month, said he thinks he is still too young to get married.
“Bata pa naman ako. Lalo na ngayon, ang mga kabataan idealistic sa future nila at maging sa career. Para sa akin, siguro kapag 35 na ako kasi mas gusto ko 'yong kapag ready na ako,” he said.
Martin, who said he is single at the moment, also prefers a non-showbiz wife.
"Kung mabibigyan ng pagkakataon, siguro hindi taga-showbiz. Seloso ako, kapag nagkaroon ng ibang leading man, mahirap," he explained.
The actor also described his ideal woman, saying she doesn't have to be very beautiful.
"Hindi ako mahilig sa maganda. Kahit simple lang, tisay, medyo may laman, maganda ang katawan," he said.
More than her physical attributes, Martin expressed that he prefers someone who is family-oriented and practical.
"Gusto ko 'yung may abilidad sa buhay," he said.
The "Juan dela Cruz" star added that he wants his future wife to reflect the characteristics of his grandmother, who took care of him since he was 10 years old.
“Lola ko ang pamantayan ko sa buhay. Siya ang iniidolo ko. Kaya ‘yong ginagawa ko ngayon, pwesto dati ng lola ko. Ako ang pumalit kasi sabi ko, ako ngayon ang may kakayanan tumulong sa pamilya,” he said.
As an actor, Martin admits that it is difficult for him to look for a relationship, although he has been linked to his leading ladies like Julia Montes, his co-star in last year's phenomenal series "Walang Hanggan."
When asked if he courted any of his leading ladies, he explained that he is just a very friendly guy and that there was no malice behind his actions.
