'Annaliza' star gets baptized as Catholic at 10
MANILA -- Young actress Andrea Brillantes, the lead star of the primetime series "Annaliza," was recently baptized as a Catholic in an event that gathered her family, friends, and colleagues from showbiz.
The 10-year-old "teleserye princess" received the sacrament last Saturday at the Divine Mercy Chapel in Quezon City.
In attendance as her godparents were several executives from ABS-CBN, including ABS-CBN Broadcast head Cory Vidanes, ABS-CBN TV Production head Laurenti Dyogi and ABS-CBN Business Unit Head Ruel Bayani.
Also present were Brillantes' "Annaliza" co-stars Zanjoe Marudo, Patrick Garcia, Carlo Aquino, Kaye Abad, Denise Laurel and Wendy Tabusalla. Beauty specialist Cathy Valencia and fragrance entrepreneur Joel Cruz were also among the young actress' godparents.
Brillantes' baptism into Catholicism comes amid the success of her debut soap opera, "Annaliza," which currently rules its timeslot in ratings.
A remake of the well-loved Pinoy TV classic that first aired in 1980, the Kapamilya series airs weeknights before "TV Patrol" as part of the "Primetime Bida" block.
