Jairus Aquino joins cast of 'Pieta'

Child star Jairus Aquino will again prove his acting prowess in his latest television series “Pieta” with Cherie Gil and Ryan Agoncillo.

In an exclusive interview with abs-cbnNEWS.com, Aquino shared his happiness and excitement to be part the upcoming afternoon show.

“Masayang masaya po ako kasi po marami na naman akong makikilalang artista at saka masaya ako na nasali po ako sa ‘Pieta’ kasi bagong project na naman ito para sa akin,” he said.

In “Pieta,” Aquino will play the character of Toto, a street urchin who will serve as Agoncillo’s good friend and sidekick.

“Ako po kasi dito ay nandudukot ako dito; dinukutan ko siya ng wallet. Tinuruan niya ako ng leksyon at naging magkaibigan kami dito," Jairus revealed.

The child actor believes his character Toto will be endearing to Filipino viewers.

“Dito lagi akong iniiwan ng nanay ko, at abangan nila ang pagiging mayabang ko at astig,” he said.

Aquino said that for the series he really focuses on doing his scenes by practicing first his lines and listens to his director.

“Ang preparasyon ko ay makinig lang sa director at mag-memorize ng scripts,” he said.

The former lead star of defunct hit show “Kung Fu Kids” said that it’s just fine with him doing support roles but admitted that he really miss doing his own show.

Also known as “Pambasang Best Friend ng Bayan,” Aquino is also back by dubbing the anime series of the hit show “Super Inggo.”

“Masayang-masaya ako kasi nagbabalik ang Super Inggo kahit na anime lang. Boses ko po iyon at okay lang po masaya ganoon pa din ang boses ko,” Aquino ended.

“Super Inggo” is said to be the first Pinoy anime series created by ABS-CBN Animation Department.

Aside from taping ‘Pieta,’ Aquino is also regular student of Angelicum in Quezon City. He is now in Grade 3 and dreams of becoming an aircraft pilot someday.
