'Sam-Bea' love team wins fans over
MANILA - Actress Bea Alonzo is overwhelmed by the increasing number of fans who approve of her team-up with Sam Milby.
She said the new tandem was a sort of risk for her, after being paired up with actor John Lloyd Cruz for a slew of TV series and movies.
The Milby-Alonzo formula, however, has proven to work magic as devoted fans of the actress still support her newest "love team."
They have starred in movies like "And I Love You So" and more recently, ABS-CBN's "Your Song Presents: Someone To Love."
“I’ve been paired off with different leading men and it’s nice to know that whoever na makapareha ko, sinusuportahan ng mga tao,” Alonzo said. “Nakakatuwa talaga na people appreciate our team-up (Bea and Sam)."
The support seemingly came as a surprise to Alonzo, since many fans were devoted to the "John Lloyd-Bea" pairing.
“Yung team-up ko naman kay Sam, surprisingly, minahal rin ng publiko, kaya thankful ako. After ‘And I Love You So’, yung 'Your Song' naman namin ang sumunod. At hindi bumitaw ang mga tagasuporta namin,” the actress said.
Alonzo added that pairing up with a new actor gave her an opportunity to "grow as an individual."
“Ayoko rin naman kasi maging masyadong dependent kay Lloydie (John Lloyd Cruz's nickname). We have to grow rin as individuals. Pero hindi [nito] ibig sabihin na [hindi] na kami magkakaroon ng project together. In fact, we’ll do a movie very soon,” Alonzo shared.
Meanwhile, in "Someone to Love", Alonzo is set to play the character of "Melissa" who pretends she has a romantic affair with Milby's character "Morrie" in order to please her ill father.
The show's next episode tasks Melissa to finally tell her father the truth. In the same vein, Morrie has to 'fess up to his real sweetheart "Brenda" (played by Princess Ryan) about his relationship with Melissa.
The show airs after the variety show ASAP '09.
