MANILA, Philippines - A week after Lucy Liu's controversial comment on "The Late Night Show with David Letterman," actress-host Kris Aquino expressed disappointment that the "Charlie's Angels" actress "looks down on Filipinos."

On Tuesday's episode of her morning talk show on ABS-CBN, "Kris TV," Aquino said she was shocked to hear Liu say that she is worried about looking "a little Filipino."
"Nagulat ako doon kasi pinanood ko siya. Ini-enjoy ko siya bilang artista kaya parang medyo masakit, hindi ba? Parang ang mean naman niya. Kasi parang bakit naman siya nagloo-look down sa Pinoy," she said.
"Nag-sorry naman. I'm sure kayo rin ha, mag-iingat kayo sa mga lalabas sa bibig. Kasi once nasabi mo at napanood ng marami eh lagot na," she told her guest co-hosts Jason Francisco and Melai Cantiveros.
In her guest appearance on "The Late Night Show With David Letterman," Liu was asked if she likes running outdoors or indoors.
The actress of Chinese descent said: “I run in a machine. It's easier for me. Also if I get really dark, I'll start to look a little Filipino, it wouldn't match. If I start getting darker, you know what I mean? I can get really dark if I’m in the sun too much.”
Liu’s statement drew mixed reactions in social media.
In an interview with Ruben Nepales of the Philippine Daily Inquirer newspaper, Liu said she never intended to insult Filipinos.
“I am so sorry that my comment was taken out of context, as I would never insult another group or ethnicity,” she said.
