MANILA, Philippines -- Actor Matteo Guidicelli on Wednesday owned up to his breakup with actress Maja Salvador, admitting that he didn't have time for his then-girlfriend.
"I guess, I can admit -- tao naman ako -- I had a lot of things that I was lacking for her. She's a wonderful person. Marami akong mga bagay na I was lacking. I guess one of those was time. I admit, okay, time because marami din akong gustong gawin," he said on "Kris TV."
"I love my work now with 'Paraiso.' It's very important to me, I'm giving my 110%. I have my triathlon which I fell in love with. I'm in love with like health and fitness and stuff. And I guess it didn't connect. The three things didn't connect properly," Guidicelli said, admitting that he would wake up at 5 a.m. for his triathlon training, which lasts until around 10 a.m.
"It wasn't her," continued Guidicelli, who, at 22, believes that he is not yet ready to be in a serious relationship.
He and Salvador were a couple for two years.
"I guess there's always a right time for everything and I think in our lives we have different priorities right now. But siyempre, she's always here in my heart and I will never forget her," he added.
Guest co-host Slater Young applauded Guidicelli for admitting his faults.
But Young and Jessy Mendiola, who is Guidicelli's leading lady in the upcoming series "Paraiso," also hinted that the actor is still in love with Salvador.
"Alam mo kapag nag-uusap kami parang mahal na mahal pa din niya si Maja," Young said.
"Sobra, sobra. Kasi sa taping parang palagi niyang nababanggit si Maja. Parang, uy si Maj ganyan, maganda, kasi in love talaga siya. Kahit noong nagi-start pa lang kami ng taping," Mendiola added.
Salvador admitted her separation with Guidicelli -- also on "KrisTV" -- last August. She told host Kris Aquino at the time that there was no third party involved in the breakup, and that it was a mutual decision that they should just concentrate on their respective careers.
Currently, Salvador is starring in the series "Ina Kapatid Anak" with friend Kim Chiu, while Guidicelli is busy with "Paraiso," which will premiere on November 5.
