Gloc-9 confirms battling hair loss
MANILA -- The new look sported by rapper Gloc-9 isn't just about looking good as he admitted to be battling alopecia.
In an interview with ABS-CBNNews.com on Tuesday for his latest album "Liham at Lihim" under Universal Records., Gloc-9 revealed that he started experiencing hair loss three to four months ago.
"Treatment or without treatment, babalik sya. It will take time though, pero babalik siya," Gloc-9 said. "Mayroong treatment, nagpapa-treat kami sa derma. May injections na ginagawa, tapos may mga gamot din."
The "Magda" hitmaker blamed his condition on stress and an improper diet.
"Dahil kapag mayroon akong pictorial o TVC shoot kailangan kong mag-effort na mag-cut down sa food na kinakain ko. Dati, medyo wala akong pakialam kahit mataba ako o ganito ganyan. Pero na-realize ko na for me to able to stay in the business, kailangan ko sigurong mag-effort sa aking itsura," he said.
According to the medical wbesite WebMD, alopecia areata is a type of hair loss that occurs "when your immune system mistakenly attacks hair follicles, which is where hair growth begins."
It added that the damage to the follicles is usually not permanent.
