'Showtime' beats 'Eat Bulaga' on anniv week
MANILA -- "It's Showtime" scored a winning streak in nationwide ratings against its rival program, "Eat Bulaga," throughout the week of October 21, when the ABS-CBN program celebrated its fourth anniversary.
Dubbed "Magpasikat Week," the Kapamilya noontime show's six-day celebration of its fourth year featured its co-hosts in all-out performances. As in previous editions, the competition was held for the benefit of the winning team's chosen charity.
According to data from multi-national market research group Kantar Media, the week-long special of "It's Showtime" consistently drew a bigger audience than "Eat Bulaga," with a national TV rating of 14.3% vs 13.2% on Oct. 21; 15.9% vs 13.2%, Oct. 22; 16% vs 13%, Oct. 23; 18.5% vs 12.8%, Oct. 24; and 18.2% vs 13.3%, Oct. 25.
The special Saturday (Oct. 26) episode of "It's Showtime," where co-hosts Karylle, Jugs Jugueta and Teddy Corpuz were named "Magpasikat" champions, particularly registered a big lead over "Eat Bulaga," with a nationwide rating of 19.6% and 13.3%, respectively.
Kantar Media uses a nationwide panel size of 2,609 urban and rural homes, representing 100% of the total Philippine TV viewing population.
As the "Magpasikat Week" champions, the trio of Karylle, Jugueta and Corpuz won P200,000 for the White Cross Children's Home in San Juan. The three also revealed that part of their winnings would go to the victims of the 7.2-magnitude earthquake in Bohol.
Placing second and third were the duo of Vice Ganda and Kim Atienza; and the team of Vhong Navarro, Billy Crawford and Coleen Garcia, taking home P150,000 and P100,000 for their chosen charities, respectively.
"It's Showtime" airs weekdays on ABS-CBN after "Be Careful With My Heart."
