Former Philippine movie idol Eddie Gutierrez was brought to St. Luke's Medical Center on Tuesday by his wife, actress-talent manager Annabel Rama.

A source close to the family said the veteran actor will undergo a "medical procedure" on Wednesday but declined to say what it would involve.

The Gutierrez family simply asked for prayers for Eddie's quick recovery.

The 66-year-old Gutierrez has six children, including actress Ruffa, also a Bb. Pilipinas beauty queen who once represented the country in the 1993 Ms. World.

His son, Richard Gutierrez, also an actor, recently had a hit film, "For the First Time", with Sharon Cuneta's daughter, KC.

He has a son, Ramon Christopher, with "Asia's Queen of Songs" Pilita Corrales, and another son, Tonton Gutierrez, with actress Liza Lorena.-- report from MARIO DUMAUAL, ABS-CBN News
