MANILA, Philippines - Three-division world champion Nonito "The Filipino Flash" Donaire married his wife, Rachel, in a Catholic ceremony held Friday in Las Piñas City.

"Muntik na akong maiyak. There were so many times na muntik na akong mapaiyak," said Donaire.

Rachel, for her part, said, "It's really overwhelming. I enjoyed every single moment of it".

The couple first got married in the United States. Nonito explained in an earlier interview the significance of their Catholic wedding date.

"[Noong] 07-07-07, naging world champion ako. And then 08-08-08 was when we got married. And we decided na 11-11-11 maganda 'yung number, it signifies great luck," Nonito said.

The couple said they first met during Rachel's taekwondo after party. But the two admitted it was not love at first sight. Rachel is a taekwondo champion.

"It was not a love at first sight for both of us. Actually akala ko maarte, suplada. Hindi naman talaga love at first sight, it was more competitive, mas magaling ako sa iyo, ganito, ganyan. It was not one of those love at first sight," said Nonito.

When the couple was asked about what they like about each other, they had this to say:

"I love the fact that he's funny. Kahit mahirap he still makes people laugh," said Rachel.

"It's how loyal she is. Kahit ano she will never turn her back on me. I know that she will always be there. Alam na alam ko na mahal na mahal niya ako yung talaga ang the best," said Nonito.

Nonito said in jest that the "bolero" side of him convinced Rachel's parents that he is a good match for their daughter.

"Bolero ako," he said with a smile. "Actually, I just proved to them na mahal na mahal ko yung anak nila. It was more of kahit ano nandoon ako. For us, nagmamahalan kami ng husto. Hindi naman sa disrespeto to our parents, we didn't mind na nandoon yung pressure. But, no matter what, ganun pa din kami, nagmamahalan pa rin kami," he said.

Friends, and other personalities attended the wedding. Former President Joseph Estrada stood as godfather to the couple.
