MANILA - Host Kris Aquino received a yellow Chanel bag from Megastar Sharon Cuneta.

In her statement on "SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon", Aquino showed off her designer bag as a sign of their "budding friendship."

The host was so excited about her gift, that she told all her 250,000 Facebook friends about the bag.

"It's yellow, it's big (and) it's nice. Sinabi ko na, 'You know, when I was growing up, Sharon is the idol. Tapos can you imagine 'yong idol mo binigyan ka ng bag? Chanel pa!" Aquino said.

Original Chanel bags typically cost around $750 (P36,000) to around $2,000 (P96,000).

Aquino said the bag is "very meaningful" because "yellow is [the campaign color of her] mom." Aquino is the youngest daughter of the late Sen. Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr. and former president Corazon "Cory" Aquino.

The color yellow is widely associated with the Aquinos as they would use it in campaign paraphernalia and clothes.

"Tie A Yellow Ribbon", Ninoy's favorite song, was played throughout Metro Manila after the senator was assassinated in 1971.

"The Buzz" host also said that, aside from the price of the bag, the mere fact that Cuneta thought to give her a present is flattering enough.

"Ang sinasabi ko lang doon ay hindi naman 'yong halaga. The fact na the Megastar ang nagbigay sa akin, I'm so kilig. I'm sorry pero nakakakilig talaga," Aquino said.

Perfect fit?

Cuneta and Aquino were both part of the film "Mano Po 6" under Regal films.

The Megastar said she decided to give the yellow Chanel bag to Aquino because she knew the famed host would be tickled pink.

She said Aquino had noticed one of her brand new designer bags and asked her where she could get one of her own.

"Naalala ko noon, nakita niya ang bag ko sa shooting. Hindi ko naman nagamit, bago pa siya. May tag pa siya. Sabi niya, 'How nice! Where did you get it?' Eh naaalala ko ngayon at baka wala na 'yong color, kasi yellow. Or baka matagal kunin. So sabi ko, 'I know na what I will give you'," Cuneta said.

"Binigay ko kasi mas meaningful sa kanya 'yon. Kaya ko namang ibigay, bakit hindi ko naman ibibigay?" she added.

Cuneta, who described Aquino as a very sweet person, said she and Aquino need more time to get to know each other as friends.

Currently, Cuneta is finishing "Mano Po 6" and hosting her weekly variety show "Sharon" while Aquino is set to do a television series with Kim Chiu.

Reports said Aquino might be cast a judge on ABS-CBN's newest talent search "Pilipinas Got Talent", similar to "America's Got Talent". The Philippine version will be hosted by Luis Manzano and Billy Crawford.
