Ai Ai sought Vic's blessing for MMFF project
MANILA, Philippines -- Before taking on her latest Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) project, Ai Ai delas Alas sought the blessing of Vic Sotto, her former leading man in the all-time highest-grossing entry to the annual film fest.

"Nag-text ako sa kanya," delas Alas told ABS-CBN News during a press conference held Monday for the entries to the 38th MMFF.
"Nagpaalam ako na, 'Bossing, kailangan ko gawin 'to.' Tapos niloloko niya ako, 'Babe, 'wag ka na masyado maraming paliwanag.' Nakakatawa," the comedienne said.
Last year, delas Alas co-starred with Sotto in the hit fantasy-comedy film "Enteng ng Ina Mo." The Star Cinema co-produced movie reportedly earned over P237 million, which is the highest total gross of any film entry to the film festival to date.
Earlier this year, delas Alas said she will no longer be joining the film fest's 38th year despite her string of box-office successes with her "Tanging Ina" series.
According to delas Alas, her contract even stipulates that instead of having a film entry this year, she will join the MMFF in 2013.
"Siguro gusto talaga 'to ng Diyos, na makasama ako ulit sa Metro Manila Film Fest, kasi maliwanag na hindi na talaga ako kasama eh," she said.
"[Pero] dahil nga 'yung nangyari, 'yung kay friendship (Kris Aquino), kailangan 'yung rules ng MMFF, so nandito pa rin po ako, kaya thank you, praise God," delas Alas added.
In Star Cinema's "Sisterakas," delas Alas will co-star with Aquino and comedian-host Vice Ganda.
The comedy flick was originally to star only Aquino and Vice Ganda. But after the actress-host backed out of the project, citing health concerns and a packed schedule, delas Alas was tapped for the film with the "It's Showtime" host.
But under the rules of the MMFF, the original cast of a film entry submitted to the committee cannot be replaced, so Aquino had no choice but to shoot the movie.
For his part, Sotto will again headline the latest in the "Enteng" film series, teaming up anew with Sen. Ramon "Bong" Revilla, Jr. for "Si Enteng, Si Agimat at Ako". They will be joined this time by young superstar Judy Ann Santos.
"Ganun talaga, professional lang kami," delas Alas said of competing with Sotto this time around. "Artista lang naman kami, so nagta-trabaho lang, wala naman personalan."
"Last year, magkakampi kami, ngayon magka-bangga kami, and I'm sure next year, kami na naman magkakampi," she added.
