Enrique says new role will shock audience
'The Strangers' full trailer unveiled
MANILA, Philippines -- Enrique Gil's role and that of his co-stars in the upcoming suspense-thriller film "The Strangers" will shock audiences who are otherwise used to their "clean-look" portrayals on TV.
"You will feel alone here, at grabe 'yung suspense, magugulat kayo sa mangyayari, sa gagawin namin," Gil told ABS-CBN News during the press conference on Monday for the entries to the 38th Metro Manila Film Festival.
"May pagka-horror, may pagka-suspense din, more on suspense siya," the "Princess and I" actor added. "Basta makikita nila, 'Oh my gosh, sila 'yun?'"
The film also stars Kapamilya talents Julia Montes, who portrays Gil's sister; Enchong Dee, the "taong-gubat"; and JM de Guzman.
Also seen in the full trailer for the film released online Monday are Cherry Pie Picache, Janice De Belen, Johnny Revilla and Jaime Fabregas.
Directed by Lawrence Fajardo, "The Strangers" is among the film entries to this year's MMFF.
"Sobrang excited ako," Gil said of his first starring role in a competing film at the annual local festival.
"Kasi sabi nila sa 'kin, MMFF is a big deal here, so para sa 'kin, 'Yes, makakasama ako, hindi lang sa movie, kundi sa float sa MOA (SM Mall of Asia)," the 20-year-old actor added, referring to the yearly parade featuring the stars of the competing MMFF movies.
In order for his career to feel "complete," Gil said he looks forward to "The Strangers" reaping awards at the film fest.
"Kumpleto na ['yung career ko], medyo. Sana manalo kami rito, para sobrang okay na," he said.
