Manilyn, Sheryl remember The Triplets
MANILA, Philippines -- Actresses Manilyn Reynes and Sheryl Cruz on Sunday recalled their singing group The Triplets with Tina Paner.
The group were formed in the 1980s by Regal Films before the three girls became part of the youth-oriented variety show "That's Entertainment."
"Actually mga bata pa lang kami ay magkakasama na kami. Magkakasabay kami sa guestings. Tapos kinuha kami sa toothpaste commercial. After that medyo nagka-age na ng konti, naging 16 ay nag-'That's Entertainment' kami," Reynes said.
"From then on nagbigay sila sa amin ng malalaking oportunidad na makasama ang isa't isa at makagawa ng album. 'Yun na nga ang tawag doon ay 'Triplets Must Be Heaven,'" Cruz added.
Reyes and Cruz also insisted that not once have they fought with each other because of rivalry.
"Mahal namin yung isa't isa. But probably dahil 'yung mga fans namin hindi ba hindi mo maiiwasan pero kami hindi kami apektado dahil mahal namin ang isa't isa," Cruz said.
Reyes added: "Akala nila kasi mayroon talagang awayan kasi parang paligsahan before pero wala talagang ganoong (away) na sa amin nanggagaling."
Even after they were disbanded, the two said they have remained good friends.
"Bagkus sa inyong kaalaman kami nila Manilyn at Kristina, whether we are far away from each other, we remain friends. They are very special to me, sa heart ko nandiyan sila. At 'yung kanilang mga anak ay inaanak ko," Cruz said.
According to Cruz, she's proud of Paner who is living in Barcelona and is now working as a voice teacher.
