MANILA - Host and TV Patrol Star Patroller Phoemela Barranda turned emotional as she shared how she felt abour losing her parents.

In an interview with abs-cbnNEWS.com during the launch of her latest clothing line endorsement "Get Laud!", Barranda cried when she talked about life without her parents.

Her mother, Proserfina Misa, died on August 13 this year due to a stroke, while her father died in 2001. Barranda is an only child.

"After the success and happiness, talagang minsan masakit sa puso. Of course, it's hard for me that my mom is not with me. So sad. Pero I hope she's here now to share it with me. And I'm so happy din siyempre. Mami-miss ko ang mommy ko. Ayan naiiyak tuloy ako," Barranda said.

Barranda said she is "trying to live her life to the fullest", believing that her mother would have wanted it that way.

She said her mother would have been proud of her latest endorsement with "Get Laud!" because Mrs. Misa was an avid customer of the garment line.

"Sobrang happy siya. Kasi talagang before, siya ang bumibili sa 'Get Laud!' (kapag nagsho-shopping siya)," she said.

Barranda added that she is trying to live by her mother's advice of taking care of herself and dreaming big.

"Siguro ang pinaghuhugutan ko na lang ng lakas ngayon ay kapag (naalala ko ang sinabi ni mommy) sa akin noong buhay pa siya. Na, 'Anak, mag-isa ka lang. You have to take care of yourself.' And 'yong mga sinabi sa akin ng mommy ko at lahat ng mga pangarap niya sa akin ay natutupad naman ngayon," she said.

No wedding bells yet

Barranda, who is now living by herself, said she is not yet thinking of settling down with long-time boyfriend Ira Cruz, the guitarist of rock band "Bamboo."

Barranda stressed that she won't get married just because she is not getting any younger.

“Me and Ira are in [a] good relationship and we don't want to rush things. Also, especially sa career ko, hindi kailangang magpakasal kami agad. So, we are good. And I think getting married is not the answer dahil sa matanda na or something,” she said.

The model-turned-host said that 2008 was a big milestone for her, since she faced a lot of challenges in her career and family life.

She also believes that she has "grown wiser" through the years.

Barranda started her career as a model. She is currently a co-host of the weekly entertainment show "The Buzz."

Barranda said she is open to doing more acting projects if she will be given a chance.

"Sana magkaroon pa ako ng ibang opportunities to show my talents. And I'm so happy naman of course with my shows sa 'The Buzz' and 'TV Patrol'," Barranda said.
