MANILA – After repeated denials, actress Wendy Valdez on Sunday finally confirmed that she and Bruce Quebral got married in secret early this year.

Valdez also admitted that they are now separated after months of marriage, but she denied that it was because of a third party.

In a live interview on “The Buzz,” Valdez clarified that they never meant to keep the marriage in private forever. In fact, she said, she was even wearing her ring during tapings.

She explained that initially she was mum on the issue because they also kept their parents in the dark when they tied the knot in civil rites in Mabalacat, Pampanga on March 10, 2009.

She said she wanted to reveal it to her mom first before publicly admitting it. Her mom, according to Valdez, was devastated and hurt when she finally saw the marriage certificate.

Valdez confessed that both she and Quebral later realized that they are not yet mature enough to live a married life, thus, they separated months later. She said after the wedding, they just “drifted apart.”

She noted that realities of life, such as financial needs, hit them hard.

Both Valdez and Quebral, former housemates of Pinoy Big Brother (PBB), are breadwinners of their respective families. After PBB, Valdez entered show business, while Quebral became a flight attendant in Dubai.

The actress said they rushed things because they were blindly in love with each other. But love alone cannot solve all their problems, she said. She added that life is not a fairy tale.

“‘Yong dapat na honeymoon namin sobrang bothered ako. Lagi akong nakatulala… after naming ikasal doon nag-sink in yong mga reality na ang buhay hindi fairy tale,” she said.

When asked about actor Will Devaughn, who is being romantically linked to her, she maintained that there is no third party involved in the issue.

Valdez said she is also planning to file an annulment.
