Star For All Seasons and Batangas Gov. Vilma Santos signed a movie contract again with ABS-CBN’s film outfit Star Cinema, Wednesday afternoon, November 26.

In an interview, Santos said that she’s excited to shoot a film anew after taking a break for almost five years. Her last movie project with Star Cinema was “Dekada ‘70” in 2002.

“At least na makakagawa na ako ng pelikula ngayon, tuloy tuloy na dapat last year pa ito kaya lang hindi nga natuloy dahil kailangang asikasuhin ko muna ang Batangas but ngayon may permiso na ng constituents ko so ito na ang signing of contract and we will be starting at least two days within the year then resume kami next week,” Santos said.

Present during the signing of contract were ABS-CBN’s CEO Eugenio Lopez III and President Charo Santos-Concio.

The movie with a working title “A Mother’s Story” will be directed by Ms. Olivia Lamasan. The two women’s last project together was a special episode for “Maalaala Mo Kaya” in 2006.

“Itong movie na ito ibang klase hindi ito yung dramang-drama porke known ako sa drama, comedy ito, challenging,” she said.

“Alam mo yung role ko dito parang milder Ai-Ai, comedy-drama pero ang drama namin ditto ay maiiyak ka lang sa eksena.

Santos said that the movie is a story of a mother who works as librarian. She will eventually find out about her son’s (Luis) affair with another guy (John Lloyd). Soon she will be facing a lot of problems after a tragedy happened.

Aside from working again with well-acclaimed director, Santos will be working for the first time with country’s most-sought actor John Lloyd Cruz and her true to life son Luis “Lucky” Manzano.

“Noong in-offer ito kay Lucky hindi ako nakialam nasabi lang ni Inang (Lamasan) na parang nakikita niyang role doon na maganda para kay Lucky kasi it’s going to be something new… hindi ako pwedeng makagawa ng pelikula dahil sa trabaho ko hindi ba, so sabi ko kung makukuha niyo si Lucky at kukunin niyo ito e di perfect na hindi ba, so sila ang nagnegotiate at nag-convince kay Lucky na tanggapin niya,” she said.

To make the project more beautiful, most parts of the movie will be shot in New York and will be shown in the latter part of 2009.

“Ang plano aalis kami for a week siguro anytime Feb for one week lang para kunin yung snow, may maganda kasing eksena doon sa snow sa New York pero one week lang yon and then balik agad then shoot ulit tapos yung summer vacation ko sa Batangas yun yung kukunin ko para i-shoot ko doon ng dire-diretso. Kasi 60% of the movie nasa New York. Three weeks kami straight doon para i-shoot yon,” she said.

Santos also shared her plan to request current Optical Media Board chief and the real father of son of Luis, Edu Manzano to be part of the film as also the father of their son.

“Lalambingin ko lang naman, sasabihin ko hoy nag-guest ka ng one day kay Ai-Ai mag-guest ka din sa akin ng one day kung papayag siya,” Santos said.

Aside from ‘A Mother’s Story,’ Santos might be doing another project with Megastar Sharon Cuneta.

Santos said that she’s happy that ABS-CBN has given her so many good projects like films – “Bata Bata” and “Anak.”
