ABS-CBN's newest Kapamilya singer Karylle is dedicating her upcoming performance at the Manny Pacquio-Oscar dela Hoya’s bout this coming December 6 in Las Vegas, USA to her grandfather, boxing referee Carlos "Sonny" Padilla, Jr., and great grandfather, Olympic boxer Carlos Padilla, Sr.

In an interview, the singer said the honor of singing the Philippine National Anthem in the Pacquiao-dela Hoya is made doubly memorable because the two Padilla men are part of the country's boxing history.

"I'm very honored that Pacquiao picked me. Number two,  it's important to me because my grandfather, Carlos Jr., was the referee in the historic 'Thrilla in Manila' bout between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier. It's something that connects me to my grandfather and his dad. My great grandfather, Carlos Sr., was an Olympic boxer. I may not be in the ring to box like them or referee but I'm gonna be there to sing and do this for my country," she said.

Karylle said she has been practicing and praying hard for her upcoming performance. She also shared that “The People’s Champ” even called her to ask how she was.

Karylle, who switched networks from GMA-7 to ABS-CBN, admitted that she might be seeing her ex-sweetheart actor Dingdong Dantes in Las Vegas since the latter has already planned to watch Pacquiao's upcoming fight.

"Oo sabi niya before na kahit anong mangyari nandoon siya. (Kung magkikita kami) hindi ko alam malaki ang MGM Grand. Dahil nakita ko noon si Justin Timberlake pero hindi niya ako nakita," Karylle said.

Karylle is set to fly to Las Vegas this coming December 4, Thursday.

Karylle, whose full name is Ana Karylle Padilla Tatlonghari, is the eldest daughter of singer Zsa Zsa Padilla.
