Because of a problem with his travel documents, young actor Sid Lucero failed to grace the Thessalonica International Film Festival in Greece to accept his trophy personally where he won the Best Actor award for his portrayal in Starview Productions’ “Selda.”
According to Lucero, he was requested by the Greek embassy to personally present himself to claim his visa from the consulate office but he was tied down by his busy schedule.
“Kailangang personal akong pumunta sa embassy para kunin ang visa ko kaya lang, may shooting pa ako. ‘Yon I missed the chance to go to Greece and accept my trophy,” said Lucero.
“I should have been more aggressive in preparing all necessary travel documents. Sayang. I regret not being with Paolo Villaluna and Ellen Ramos, my directors in ‘Selda.’ But hearing the good news, I think I was more than happy for the success of our film,” he said.
He also regretted not speaking on behalf of his dad, Mark Gil, during the 2008 Cinema One Originals Digital Film Festival awarding where he was a presenter. Gil won the Best Actor award for his role as an older man falling in love with a younger woman.
“I thought somebody accepted the award for him. Naku, sayang, I also should have spoken something about his winning the award,” he said regretfully.
Gil was not around to accept his trophy which he won stalemate with Ronnie Lazaro who bagged the title for his arresting portrayal of a father of a young girl possessed by a mysterious illness in “Yanggaw.”
“Before I left home, I asked Dad if he would come to the awarding and he told me he might but he would be late as he was busy shooting another film,” said Lucero.
