It's no joke: Tado is running in 2010 polls

MANILA - Comedian and veteran indie actor Arvin "Tado" Jimenez on Tuesday filed his certificate of candidacy (CoC) for councilor of the 1st district of Marikina City.

Accompanied by his friends and supporters,Tado, who will run as independent, filed his CoC at the local office of the Commission on Elections in Marikina City.

On November 13, Tado bared his intention to run for city councilor as he vowed to help the residents of Marikina through his "pro-masses brand of politics."

Tado graduated at Polytechnic University of the Philippines with a degree in psychology. His career in the entertainment industry started when he became involved in theater acting. He also studied film making at the Mowelfund Institute.

Tado rose to fame as the main character of defunct magazine show "Strangebrew."

Tado has co-founded Dakila, an artists group aims to instill modern-day heroism in ordinary people, with other artists like Lourd de Veyra, Parokya ni Edgar's guitarist Edgar Buwi Meneses and well-acclaimed actor Ronnie Lazaro. -With a report from Marc Logan, ABS-CBN News
