2012 Cinema One Film Fest winners bared

MANILA, Philippines - Indie film "Catnip" starring Lauren Young and Maxene Magalona won big in the 2012 Cinema One Originals Film Festival held at ABS-CBN's Dolphy Theater on Monday night.

Aside from Best Director award, "Catnip" took home the Best Screenplay, Best Editing and Best Musical Score.

"Catnip," by Kevin Dayrit, tells the story of two friends who, despite their frequent rifts and differences, find comfort in being together.

The major acting awards were given to stars of "Palitan," and the Best Picture was given to film "Pascalina," a story of a simple girl who, after visiting her dying aunt, experiences changes in her life that will push her to the edge of madness and monstrosity.

Best Cinematography -- Danilo Salas III (Anak Araw)
Best Production Design -- Michael Español (Mariposa Sa Hawla Ng Gabi)
Best Editing -- Kevin Dayrit (Catnip)
Best Sound -- Mickey Macachor (Aberya)
Best Musical Score -- Join the Club, Circa, Rugis (Catnip)

Audience Choice Award -- "Melodrama Negra"

Special Jury Prize -- "Ang Paglalakbay Ng Mga Bituin Sa Gabing Madilim"
