MANILA, Philippines -- Contrary to a statement made by her former husband James Yap, Kris Aquino and the star cager are no longer in good terms.
"No that's not true. Hindi na ngayon," the Kapamilya actress-host told reporters after the press conference for the comedy film "Sisterakas" held Saturday.
Aquino is referring to an earlier statement made by Yap on the current status of their relationship.
Last week, the basketball player said he and presidential sister are now "good friends." He said they can now even joke with each other in conversations.
The two were married in civil rites in 2005. They separated in June 2010, and their marriage was annulled in January this year.
Their son, James Jr., more popularly known by his nickname "Bimby," turned 5 in April this year.
"Ayoko magpaka-plastic sa inyo," the actress-host said. "It's easy to tell all of you na, 'Yes, we're friends, we're good and all.' We're not."
"I think we're better off having distance from each other, kasi nami-misinterpret namin ang isa't isa. I hold no bitterness in my heart, but I have no desire for any closeness," Aquino added.
Asked on the reason behind their rift, the Kapamilya talent refused, saying, "Ayoko nang pag-usapan."
Along with "It's Showtime" host Vice Ganda and veteran comedienne Ai Ai delas Alas, Aquino topbills Star Cinema's "Sisterakas."
The upcoming comedy flick by Wenn Deramas is an entry to the 38th Metro Manila Film Festival.
Also starring Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel Padilla and Xyriel Manabat, "Sisterakas" will hit theaters nationwide on Christmas Day.
