MANILA, Philippine - Prince of Comedy Vic Sotto is not out to compete with pound-for-pound king Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao at the 2009 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).

"Wala akong iniisip na kalaban. Wala akong iniisip na katapat. Ang iniisip ko lang palagi ay sana magtagumpay muli ang ating festival sa kabuuan," Sotto told ABS-CBN News.

Sotto’s “Ang Darling Kong Aswang” and Pacquiao’s “Wapakman” are vying for the best film prize along with other MMFF entries. “Ang Darling Kong Aswang” and “Wapakman” are both comedy films.

“Wapakman” is a comedy-fantasy film that tells the story of Magno, a single parent who has acquired supernatural powers. Under the direction of Topel Lee, the movie is produced by Solar Films.

"Ang Darling Kong Aswang," on the other hand, is a comedy-fantasy-horror movie that tells the story of an ordinary man who married a blood-sucking woman.

Aside from “Wapakman,” Sotto's film will also compete with senator-actor Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr.'s "Panday," Dolphy’s “Nobody, nobody but Juan,” Sharon Cuneta’s “Mano Po 6: A Mother’s Love,” Ruffa Gutierrez’s “Shake, Rattle & Roll XI,” and Angelica Panganiban’s “I Love You, Goodbye.”

In a previous interview, Revilla said he was confident that his movie would bag numerous awards in the competition.

For Sotto, however, getting an award is not his main concern.

"Ang mga award bonus na lang ‘yon. Ang importante sabi ko nga ay nanggagaling sa manonood na, " he said. "It's the people’s award na nadinig mo na, ‘Uy, ang ganda ng pelikula mo. Tawa kami ng tawa. Nag-enjoy kami sa pelikula mo.' ‘Yon ang mga bagay na hindi pwedeng bayaran."

“Kung sinuman ang maa-award-an I'm sure karapat dapat kasi may mga hurado tayo diyan at may huhusga niyan. So, I will be happy for everyone na makakatanggap ng award," the ace comedian added.
