MANILA, Philippines – Teen singing sensation Charice thanked her fan base Chasters after she edged global singing stars in the “Best Oprah Show Musical Performance" award.

Charice beat Whitney Houston, James Taylor, Michael Bublé, Journey, and the Black Eyed Peas in the online poll on Oprah.com, receiving 70% of the votes for her “Note to God” performance.

“Note to God” is her debut international single which she launched on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” last May 18.

The song, written by Diane Warren and produced by David Foster, peaked at No. 35 in the Canadian Hot 100 and No. 44 in the US Billboard Hot 100.

In an interview with abs-cbnNEWS.com, Charice said that she didn't expect the poll result.

"Hindi ko po ini-expect 'yon sobrang malulupit ang nominated, like sila Michael Buble, Whitney kasama si Kuya Arnel Pineda (Journey) at Black Eyed Peas. Hindi ko ini-expect na maka-third place ako kasi ang hirap, ang bigat ng mga nominees. Nagulat ako na 70%, so nag-super thanks ako sa mga nag-vote," Charice said.

Charice said she owes the honor to all her loyal supporters, in particular, the Chasters, who were really active in the online voting, even recruiting members so she would win.

"Sa tingin ko po, kapangyarihan ng mga Chasters at mga new Chasters. 'Yong ibang mga tao (kasi) na nahikayat ng Chasters. Chasters are the best fans in the world. Talagang kumakalat ang word, talagang iba ang suporta," she said.

Charice said she can't really find the right words of gratitude for her fans. The singer said she's just happy that she is able to communicate with her fans through Tweeter and her blog.

She said that her upcoming international debut album would be her best gift to all her fans.

Asked when she's going back to Oprah show to perform again, Charice said: "Hindi ko pa alam kasi kailan lang nangyari 'yon. Nalaman ko ng December 15. Kung babalik po ako ay dadaan po muna yon sa manager ko na si Marc Johnston."

Some reports said she will guest in Oprah in January to promote her first international album.

Meanwhile, Oprah.com also cited Charice’s other achievements in 2009, including her debut international album and going on tour with “David Foster & Friends” in the United States and Canada.

She is also included in the live action-animation movie “Alvin and the Chipmunks 2: The Squeakquel” slated for release next year. Charice plays the rival singer of  the Chipmunks.

Currently, Charice is in town to take a short vacation before flying back to US before the year end to prepare for the launching of her first international CD.

She is also set to wow foreign audiences anew when she guests in one of the hit international talent shows in Asia.
