Mommy Dionisia gives b-day party crowd a show
MANILA, Philippines – The celebrity mom of pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao danced to her heart’s delight in front of the party crowd that attended the boxer’s 31st birthday bash in General Santos City.
About 3,000 people, including some of the nation's most powerful politicians, attended Pacquiao's birthday bash on Thursday at the KCC Convention Center in his home town of General Santos.
ABS-CBN News spotted Mommy Dionisia before the dance, clad in a violet dress and wearing a complete set of jewelry.
When asked about her gift to her son, she replied: “Ipakita ko na lang mamaya sa kanyang mga mata!”
Her gift turned out to be an elaborate dance number.
Before the performance both mother and son were on the stage, bantering about their commercial endorsements.
“Malakas ako ngayon kasi uminom ako ng Osteogard,” said Mommy Dionesia.
“Sandali, endorsement mo yata yan, eh,” replied Pacquiao. “Ako din babati sa mga taga-Barangay Ginebra.”
They also had a closing dialogue after the dance.
“Uminom din ako ng Ginebra, konti lang,” said the mother.
“Sige, mula ngayon, iinom na din ako ng iniinom mo,” joked Pacquiao.
Pacquiao sings
Not to be outdone by his mom, Pacquiao belted out a series of songs.
The boxer, who last month won a historic seventh world title, performed 15 songs including a duet with his wife, Jinkee, at the party where 30 roasted pigs were served and a car was raffled off.
"I thank you for coming and I thank God because he is the one who gave me all my blessings and my skills for my achievements," Pacquiao, dressed in white and black, told the crowd. With reports from Agence France-Presse and Jorge Cariño, ABS-CBN News
