MANILA, Philippines - Year in and year out, beauty queen Maria Isabel Lopez prepares her home to receive guests throughout Christmas Eve.

She gives them gifts and serves them food at her table.

This year, however, Lopez is putting aside this tradition and instead will leave her abode for 10 days this Christmas season.

Although she has already distributed her Christmas presents days ahead, her showbiz friends will miss her usual hospitality and story-telling.

She will lock up her townhouse, pack her things and along with her children, college student Mara Isabelle Lopez and Ken Yokohama, will trot off to Thailand.

She will also be with her American boyfriend Wade Rowland, this time around.

The guy will arrive in the country from the US on December 24 and will immediately fetch them from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport to directly board a plane to Bangkok.

“We will tour the islands of Thailand like Phuket, Phi Phi, Pattaya, Krabi, Koh Phangan and a lot more,” Lopez said during the part of entertainment writer Chito P. Alcid, who celebrated 40 years in show business.

Other Lopezes' gimmicks

Meanwhile, twin brothers Nathan (of “Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros” and “Tirador” fame) and Gammy Lopez will "turn the tables around" for the holidays.

The Lopez twins will host a big party for their kin and loved ones at a hotel. They will also visit their godparents and give them money on Christmas Day, instead of the other way around.

“Gusto namin, lahat ng mga cousins namin, magkakasama kami at bibigyan namin silang lahat ng aginaldo,” chuckled Gammy in behalf of the elder Nathan who was just smiling.

“Sana, magkapera kami nang marami ngayong Pasko para magawa namin ang plano na ‘to,” Gammy added.

It will also be giving and not receiving, the very spirit of the holidays, that gay actor Ian Valdez will take to heart this Christmas.

“I will cook and serve foods to all my staff in my promotion agency and if I have enough extra money, I will spare them,” Valdez said.

He also does a yearly visit to the Golden Acres Home for the Aged on Christmas day. Report by Boy Villasanta
