'Panday', 'Aswang' are early MMFF box office draws
MANILA, Philippines - Movies with a more fantastic bent ruled the box office on the first day of the 2009 Metro Manila Film Festival.
Ric Camaligan, president of the National Cinemas Association of the Philippines, said two of the seven movies included in the festival were clearly leading the pack based on ticket sales and number of people lining up to watch the films on opening day.
Leading the pack is the remake of Carlo J. Caparas' classic "Ang Panday" movie, this time with Sen. Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr. as the titular hero. Close on its heels is the horror-comedy "Ang Darling Kong Aswang" starring Comedy Prince Vic Sotto and Cristine Reyes.
Also strong at the tills are "Shake, Rattle and Roll 11" starring Ruffa Gutierrez, "Mano Po 6" starring Sharon Cuneta and Zsa Zsa Padilla, and "I Love You, Goodbye" starring Gabby Concepcion, Angelica Panganiban, Derek Ramsey and Kim Chiu.
The comedy "Nobody, Nobody but Juan" starring Comedy King Dolphy and "Wapakman" starring pound-for-pound champ Manny Pacquiao placed sixth and seventh respectively.
Camaligan said the rankings are based on first day indicators and could still change as the festival continues.
mmff basura.

MMFF must be in Metro Manila only
Please be democratic you people from Metro Manila. Hindi lahat ng pinoy gustong manood ng Tagalog films. Sa inyo na yan. Hwag nyo kaming idamay. Show in parallel the films from Holywood with MMFF films. Isipin nyo mga OFW na gusto manood with families this holiday season ng mga Holywood films. Ito time nila.
Nagsawa na ang mga tao sa

kita nyo na? nami media lang yan si Kap, pag isyu sa showbiz, pero pag sa senado, tulog naman yan eh! bahala na nga kayo! iboto nyo pa! sige lang!
MMFF must be subject all areas of the Philippines
It's 'Metro Manila' Film Festival. Not 'Metro Manila and Metro Cebu' Film Festival. How come we Cebuanos are subjected to watch those films that most of us think are not that competitive enough to please us Cebuanos. This holiday season we want to have fun and watch movies that we like. But no movies shown except those from MMFF. The Philippines is not Manila and certainly Manila is NOT the Philippines. I'm speaking in behalf of those Cebuanos not oppose to my opinion and also to those who are against these established rules.
