For Gary Valenciano, there’s no need for his three children—Paolo, Gab, and Keanna—to equal his achievements.

ABS-CBN.com interviewed Gary during the music video shoot of the Tayong Dalawa teleserye theme last December 19 at the La Mesa Dam Ecopark. The renowned concert performer revealed what he tells his children, especially Gab and Paolo, as they venture into music.

“My children, especially my boys, are totally aware of the fact that I told them when they were young, ‘You don’t have to be like your dad.’ There’s no need for you to be like me. Just be the best of what God intended you to be and you’ll be fine. They’ve accepted that,” Gary shared.

In the Pasko Na, Kapamilya! The ABS-CBN 55th Anniversary Christmas Special, Gary sang on stage with his three children. Oftentimes in ASAP ‘08, Gary would do dance numbers with Gab who seems to have inherited his impressive moves. ABS-CBN.com asked Gary on how he feels every time he would share the stage with any of his children.

“I think any father or mother would be flattered whenever they get to perform with their children and the feedback is that they are much better. ‘Gab dances better than you!’ or ‘Paolo sings better than you!’ Things like that. I like that na parang they are not just flying under my wings but they are flying on their own wings. That’s what I have been hoping for. I’m seeing it happen na these days. I don’t work for my children. I work with them and we have fun at the same time. To say that I am proud is an understatement. To say that I’m blessed is more like it.”

Gary’s achievements as a singer, composer, performer, and actor, is definitely a tough act to follow not only for his children but any newbie in the industry. After 25 years in the music scene, Mr. Pure Energy is showing no signs of slowing down from providing his legions of fans the best material. Gary went on to talk about his upcoming plans in 2009.

“We’re planning a repeat of the Gary V Live at 25 concert which we had last November 14 and 15. We’re just waiting for the availability of the Araneta Coliseum. If it doesn’t happen in February next year baka we’ll have it na lang before my 25th anniversary ends in April or May. I’m also working on some new albums, with a twist. But I’ll let you guys know more about it as we go along with the project. I’m also working on some other projects that are very different, not even musically inclined. I’m writing a story which I hope will be turned into a movie or a mini-series.”
