I was viewing ASAP on Channel 2 and learned about your project to clean up and revive the Pasig River.

 

Aside from what was mentioned, may I suggest to President Gina Lopez and all those concerned to include a fish seeding program. A seeding program can increase the aquatic life in the river, promote rod and reel or subsistence fishing and add more predators that can control the janitor fish problem in its upper reaches.

 

Pledges can be secured from private sector contributors to seed such species as Central Luzon State University Genetically Enhanced Tilapia, Largemouth Bass, Catfish, Haruan, Kasili and other species. The DENR/BFAR can be tapped for fingerlings dispersal in selected areas.

 

Seeding more freshwater fish species will also ensure a food source for the less priviledged. This can also mean eco-tourism rod and reel fishing tournaments just like Singapore.
