RE: political promise on poverty

Any candidate who promises to do something about poverty is lying. It is voters deception. That candidate is selling snake oil. It is the same question one asks if hell could be frozen. Poverty is a function of uneven distribution of the country’s wealth.

The wealth of a nation is driven by its economic output. If the country’s population grows at the rate of over a million annually and the country’s GDP stays at 5% or lower, more and more people will join the ranks of the poor.

Only a sustained growth of nearly 10% for years in GDP and a corresponding decrease in the growth of population could bring that promise to fruition. No candidate could never promise a rosy GDP and a dramatic population slowdown not even Villar, who is a billionaire.
