RE: the Role of the Church

Human dignity, solidarity and caritas (charity) are the cornerstone of the Catholic social teachings. I don’t see the proactive role of the Catholic Bishops on the above. Addressing poverty is a social responsibility of both the state and the Church and I don’t see Catholic initiated programs providing soup kitchens and homeless shelters.
I don’t see Catholic charities involved in free medical clinics, out-of –school programs, job skills programs, maternal and child care programs, etc. I see the shadow of the Church in natural disaster but otherwise the Catholic Church remains invisible.
What I see is the meddling of the Church in politics (working for or against a particular presidential candidate or a piece of legislation). The true social teaching of Christ is to protect human dignity but this is being perverted by the men in Catholic cassocks, who called themselves Catholic Bishops.
I am not anti-Christ, atheist or agnostic but I hate what I see.
