Aiko makes comeback with May-December affair in 'Your Song'

Comebacking actress Aiko Melendez is back in television drama via the one-month series of ABS-CBN’s “Your Song presents: Someone Like You” with actor John Prats.

Melendez who’s been away in acting for almost four years because of her job as Quezon City council member said that she’s really excited about her comeback TV project.
In an interview with abs-cbnNEWS.com, Melendez said that it was not hard for her to go back in acting since it’s literally one of her passions in life.

“Noong first sequences parang I was observing pero siguro talaga kapag mahal mo ang trabaho mo nandiyan lagi so talagang kailangan lang na ita-tarnish mo iyong nangalawang,” explains Melendez.

“Hindi ba ang acting kasi is a passion for me and being in politics kumbaga vow ko to serve the people but once you’re in showbiz  you will forever be in showbiz, I guess you will forever be looking for it,” she added.

The actress said she really missed being in showbiz that’s why she decided to go back.

Melendez said the only problem she encountered doing the series is the fact that she had to sleep late.

“Iyong mahirap lang sa akin ay iyong puyatan na-shock talaga ako kasi for so many years ngayon lang ako ulit nagpuyat ng hanggang alas dos ng hapon so talagang iyon lang ang mahirap na part,” she  explains.

“Your Song Presents: Someone Like You” is directed by Don Cuaresma. The series features the May December romance betweeen the characters played by Melendez (Marge) and Prats (Melvin).

The two meet in a bar and because of Marge’s depression over a break-up with husband-to-be Allen, she ended up spending the night with Melvin.

Years later, Marge and Melvin will meet again, this time as co-teachers. A seemingly unlikely couple, will the two stand the test of time?

Aiko Shinoji in real life, Melendez is also a city councilor for the second district of Quezon City.

In a previous interview, Melendez said that she’s not in hurry to get marry again since she has a lot of things to fix in her life.

She is the current sweetheart of Bulacan Bulacan vice-mayor Patrick Meneses.

Melendez marriage to  actor Jomari Yllana was annulled and she is now in the middle of legal proceedings seeking to annul her marriage to estranged husband Martin Jickain.

Melendez and Yllana have a son, Andre. Aiko has a daughter named Marthena with Jickain.

Melendez will also soon star in ABS-CBN’s longest-running drama anthology “Maalaala Mo Kaya.”
