Melamine positive products

Greetings!

Now that the results of the tests conducted by BFAD on some milk and milk products is out, we should be assured or should we?

What is our assurance that some of our enterprising fellowmen will not repack those products positive of melamine to look like products that are safe? Or that these safe products would remain safe forever?

We consumers are always at the mercy of the people who do trade. Good if they are conscientious and God-fearing. What we need is a strong safety net when it comes to food and food products coming in to our country. If our products are scrutinized by the countries importing them, then it is our right also to scrutinize products coming in.

It is my fervent hope that after this melamine incident our fellowmen will learn to appreciate products that are indigenous in our locality and our government would do everything in there power to promote this products. It is high time that we learn that not all imported products are good.

Watching your news last night (Friday night) and some of today's news head lines there were only two brand names of milk which is contaminated. Was the test done on one production batch sample, or several production batches? This should apply to other brands which are not contaminated, checking should be done based on production date. Maybe it is worth checking.

Hi! I am from Cainta, Rizal presently working here in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. I just want to comment in what I have seen in TV-Balitang Middle East, regarding the Melamine Scare.

It is NOT true that there is no milk from China here in Saudi Arabia. I attached here one brand (particularly Nestle Nesvita -previously KLIM) in which I saw in one big supermarket here in Riyadh (Al-Jazeera Supermarket).

This mik is also available in some stores like Carrefour Supermarket. I don't think they are doing anything here in KSA regarding the scare because up to now I still see Chinese made foods, particularly this Nestle Nesvita (Klim).

I hope the goverment will trace who is the distributor/importer of   SANLU. Through this it can help us know what companies are patronizing their products.

Other big companies claim their raw materials came from US, Switzerland etc, but there are instances that you resort to cheaper raw materials for higher profit and in order to compete in the open market.

Greetings!!!

I was alarmed this morning when I watched ANC live that BFAD already released the result of the test of tainted milk from China and I saw YILI PURE MILK is one of the 2 that had resulted to a positive test for melamine contamination.

I am Tonnette, a resident of Baguio City, and a mother of 2. My kids, even my nephew, has been drinking YILI PURE MILK for the past few months (in combination with another milk product manufactured here in the Phils.) until this incident happened.

Here in Baguio, a supermarket sells this product for BUY 1 TAKE 1 promo, which encouraged me to buy (of course, due to the high cost of goods). As always, I check for the manufacturing date and expiration date of the product.

It was stated that it was manufactured in the month of May 2008 and will expire on January 2009. They started this promo more or less in the month of June 2008.   Since they already did this before ( I think that was last year), as a consumer, I always bought the product and give it to my kids. Even I also drink this product at home. But when there were news regarding the number of victims of milk products in China, I stopped purchasing this product.

Since the BFAD already released the result that this product is tested positive for melamine, My question is, does it accounts to all YILI PURE MILK products regardless of the manufacturing dates?

3 days ago, my eldest, who is 8 years old, had his morning urine and got scared when his urine was color red and he experienced pain after urinating. He even cried after that. I talked to him and asked him some questions. That morning, we went to a laboratory (here in SM Baguio) to test his urine (urinalysis) and the test resulted that he has UTI (urinary tract infection).   Antibiotics was ordered and started.

When this happened to my son, we thought that this might be the cause of the said tainted milk. But then as mother, I said that we should not conclude until the test will be released by the government.

Now that the test had been released, right now I am thinking, could it really be the effect of the contaminated milk from China which hospitalized thousands of babies?

I am writing to you and sharing my experience that is happening to my eldest right now, and hoping that it will not happen to my youngest (7 years old) and nephew (12 years old) in the future.

I am also asking if incase will the government help us, or the others, who "might" be victims of this incident?   I know that in my son's case, it is not yet proven but I'm thinking "what if".

Hoped that ABS CBN can help me and reply to my questions which is bothering me right now.

Thank you very much and God Bless!!!
