I share in the joy and relief in seeing Fr. Sinnot set free in one piece. I will not ask the whys and wherefores of such a happy turn of event, not even the ticklish question of ransom. That the poor priest is alive and in government custody is what’s important.
However, to prevent future kidnappings of foreign missionaries, I suggest that their respective denomination and country stop sending them to far-flung Southern Philippines. In other words , eliminate the target. No missionary, no target for terrorists.
Leave those people be want they are: Muslims, tribesmen, mountain folks, cavemen or whatever. As long as such people are good and peace-loving, there’s no need to convert them to Christianity. In stead, send these missionaries right here to Luzon or the Visayas where they might find anti-social, anti-Christ sects, cultists or plain criminals who need the conversation and reformation.
