RE: Loren's politics

As a veteran broadcaster and communication expert, Loren Legarda has a twisted sense of analogy. In defending her embrace of many Villar’s presidential candidacy, Legarda argued that even Hillary Clinton, who was Obama’s antagonist for the Democratic presidential nomination, is now Obama’s State Secretary. What a fallacious parallel.

First, both Obama and Hillary belong to the same political party. Hillary was a candidate herself and whatever criticism she said against Obama were directed towards differences in political policies and strategies in winning the US presidency. Hillary did not accuse Obama of graft or of any official misdeed as Senator. Within a political party, members are expected to bury the hatchet and honor the winner. In fact, there was public expectation and Democratic clamor that she accepted the position as a gesture of party unity.

Legarda, on the other hand, is a vocal critic of Villar as Senate president, especially on the celebrated C-5 diversion case. She flaunts her being independent so can’t be Villar’s partymate. She had openly criticized Villar in the senate (perhaps for “Ganda” points) and has not retracted those accusations ever since. She has been fishing for some party to adopt her until she had no one to turn to but the man she had embarrassed with her criticism: “Manuel Villar, my love”. Not even a poetespeare could have found any analogy or parallel between Hillary’s being Obama’s State Secretary and Loren Legarda’s sweet embrace of Manny Villar.

Loren is now in a dilemma. In order to survive, Loren has to retract and swallow all the bitter words she had dropped against Villar, and apologize for her mistakes if only to advance their mutual political interest. Ms. Loren Legarda who prides her political independent is not really independent after all. She is now depending on Money Villar’s well-oiled party machine.

We're very disappointed with Sen. Villar's choice of Sen. Loren Legarda as his vice pres. We hope that he will reconsider his choice for someone else who has superior qualifications.

We don't think Sen. Legarda has that strong charisma to attract voters especially those who knows her record personally and as a public servant.
