Aling Dionisia did not malign black or African Americans when she referred to them as negro. Only a few naïve fault finders (with little vocabulary) thought she was being racist in her use of such word.
My Hispanic students casually and openly use the word within hearing distance of black Americans on the campus. No offense, No big deal. “Nigger” is the N-word, the racial slur because it refers to a socially disadvantaged class of people left out of the political process.
Knowing our dear Pacmom, she couldn’t have meant that to slur black Americans. To those Pinoys who are not fond of her, remember that the words that Aling Dionisia uses should be taken always within, not out of, context.
