RE: Pacquiao is too big to represent tiny Saranggani

Politically speaking, Manny Pacquiao is a square peg getting into a round hole. The Sarangani folks do need to have a voice in Congress (more than the gays and lesbians do) but not Manny who is already national representative, treasure, and property of the entire nation.
No doubt Sarangani will elect him, but how about the other needy or depressed places that might also need Pacquiao’s vision and support. ”Sorry po, kasi I represent only the people of Sarangani”. Would that not be his politically correct answer? But then, would that be fair of Manny? Can Manny sleep soundly with such a reply?
Manny was ill-advised to think that by representing Sarangani he will do the whole country great. On the contrary, some people are already resenting his decision because he underestimated his power by narrowing down his horizon. Manny could have refrained from entering politics. He should have stayed apolitical on the side but made himself available to whoever is the next elected President.
He won’t even be wasting literally hard-earned on political campaigns. He’ll simply wait. The next president then can officially appoint him a special but powerful position where Manny can use his clout and iconic influence to make a difference in the lives of his people, to move people, to make the impossible possible: in education, infrastructure, peace and order- not just in the alleviation of the poor. Again, like I wrote before on Edu who should have been an Senator, “Sayang” din si Manny sa poliitica, eka nga ng kanta ni Claire.
