MANILA – Another election-related hashtag topped the list of trending topics on social networking site Twitter on Monday, this time poking fun at the situation of senatorial bet Richard Gordon.

Gordon, known for his nickname "Dick," ranked 13th in the unofficial tallies of the senatorial race on Monday evening. He was still at the same spot as of 4:49 p.m. Tuesday with 9,088,804, votes, just behind reelectionist Gringo Honasan with 9,520,972 votes, according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) transparency server.

Even though voting has already finished, Gordon's digital team member Kenneth Lloyd Banga-Dimalibot (@justcallmelloyd), in a bid to bring back Gordon to the Senate, formulated the hashtag #PushGordon.

The hashtag, however, was picked up by some Filipino netizens and was turned into the double entendre hashtag #IpasoksiDick. The Twitter hashtag was easily catapulted into the top spot of the social networking site's list of trending topics.

According to ABS-CBN and IBM's Social Media Tracker, the keyword peaked between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. Monday, garnerning at least 51,098 mentions, or up by 73,955% from 69 the previous hour.

Total mentions for #ipasoksidick from 8 p.m. until midnight of Monday numbered 95,685, taking 16.67% of all election-related tweets or posts.

The hashtag was met mostly with amusement by Filipino netizens, with some hoping for the United Nationalist Alliance senatorial bet to once again "penetrate the Senate." Some noted that not all people who used the hashtag really wanted the senatorial bet to win.

#Ipasoksidick spawned other hashtags such as the pun #Erection2013, #penetratethesenate, and #HarDonSaSenado – an amalgamation of the names of Gordon and another senatorial bet, Edward Hagedorn.

Senatorial candidate Nancy Binay, who has figured in various Internet memes as a result of comedian Vice Ganda's comments on her candidacy, was not spared in Monday's social media happening as #IbaonsiNancy, a take on the #IpasoksiDick hashtag, also came into existence.

Binay has been the subject of ridicule in social networking sites, with Twitter hashtag #ojtparinsiNancy also trending recently.

The hashtag #ojtparinsiNancy was made after Binay, reacting to Vice Ganda's comment on her supposed inexperience as a public servant, said she had decades of "on-the-job training" under her politician parents. - With Acee Vitangcol, ABS-CBN
