MANILA - Social media users believe impeaching President Benigno Aquino III over the Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP) will not resolve corruption in government.

Three lawmakers on Monday endorsed an impeachment complaint against Aquino filed by militant group Bayan and 27 other complainants at the House of Representatives.

In the complaint, the petitioners accused President Aquino of culpable violation of the Constitution and betrayal of public trust because of the DAP.

On Monday, TV Patrol asked on Facebook and Twitter: ''Pabor ka bang ma-impeach si PNoy dahil sa #DAP na idineklarang unconstitutional ng Korte Suprema?''

While some said yes, majority of the social media users who responded to the question said they are tired of yet another impeachment complaint.

They suggested that instead of pushing for Aquino's impeachment, the complainants should just shift their focus on probing how the DAP funds were used.

Some netizens also believe that impeaching Aquino will be a waste of time since he only has two years left in his term.

Several social media users also said they have lost faith in the legislative branch--a key player in the impeachment process.

Others said that even if the impeachment against Aquino prospers, they cannot think of someone trustworthy enough to replace him.

Three Makabayan bloc congressmen endorsed the complaint agaist Aquino. They are Bayan Muna party-list representatives Neri Colmenares and Carlos Zarate and Anakpawis Rep. Fernando Hicap.

The complainants include the petitioners in the Supreme Court case questioning the legality of the DAP led by the Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN), Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC), Confederation for Unity, Recognition and Advancement of Government Employees (COURAGE) and Atty. Jose Malvar Villegas, Jr., leaders of peoples’ organizations, church people and netizens. They are initiating the action as citizens and taxpayers.

The complaint is the first to be endorsed by a sitting congressman, a key requirement for any impeachment complaint to advance in the House.
