Netizens say season ban vs La Salle 'heckler' unfair
MANILA -- It was unfair to ban a La Salle fan who was involved in a near altercation with Ateneo head coach Bo Perasol following the Blue Eagles' loss to the Green Archers last Sunday, many netizens said on Wednesday.
La Salle alumnus JJ Atayde has been banned by the UAAP Board from attending basketball games for the rest of the season for heckling Perasol.
Perasol, on the other hand, has been suspended in Ateneo's game against the University of the East on Sunday.
Filipinos online expressed sympathy for Atayde, saying that "heckling" is really a part of watching the games.
For Facebook user Joshua Daniel Flores, "Heckling and calling names are all part of competitive sport; it's just something you can't withdraw."
Likewise, Ronald Inocencio said, "wala kuwenta ang competitions kung puro tahimik ang nanonood..........blag!"
Unfair kay Mr Atayde ung "rest" of d season ban.If bawal ang "heckling" eh di mg close door game n lng kyo pra kyo kyo n lng manood.

Some of them also said that the UAAP Board should have also banned other fans, noting that what Atayde did was also done by other people who watched the Sunday game.
A few also referred to the saying, "Ang pikon ay laging talo."
"If UAAP investigated more, they will find out dozens more, if not hundreds, were all HECKLING at Ateneo. So, why not ban all of them, too?" said Raffy Pekson II.
"If UAAP thinks BOTH of them (Atayde and Perasol) are at fault, then ban Perasol for the entire season as well," Pekson added.
I think the ban on JJ Atayde is a little unfair. After all, he did apologize. Also, what he did is being done by over half of UAAP fans.

Agree 100%. Yung mga sinabi ni JJ Atayde, lahat naman tayo guilty sa ganun. For him to be banned 4 d rest of d season is unfair.

"Unfair for De La Salle fan. pikon talo he he..," Edd Florido said on Facebook.
Meanwhile, a few netizens sided with Ateneo, saying that Atayde should have been respected and not "provoked" Perasol.
Fatima Dreiza U. Salian said, "Nanalo na nga team nila tapos mag provoke pa? Respeto na lang sa opposite team lalu at natalo na nga sila.."
Shaun Lim said "[Atayde] can still watch the games on tv so..."
so Coach Bo is suspended for 1 game. and JJ Atayde can't watch live for the rest of the season. fair enough

On the other hand, it was only fair that JJ Atayde is banned for the season. Sorry bud.
