Napoles only a 'fall guy,' bishop claims
MANILA - Businesswomen Janet Lim Napoles is just a fall guy used by powerful politicians in the pork barrel scam, Novaliches Bishop Antonio Tobias said Monday.
An independent agency composed of former members of the Supreme Court should lead the investigation into the scam to ensure the probe results are fair and credible, he added.
"Just put a 3-man board or committee like the 3 (former chief) justices of the Supreme Court. Puno, Davide, Panganiban," he said.
Tobias said investigators should focus their attention on others tagged in the scam.
"Take it easy on Napoles and accuse the persons that are already there coming out," he said.
Tobias, meanwhile is not blaming his fellow priests who received donations from Napoles.
He explained that they don't really ask donors where the money come from.
Tobias also shrugs off criticisms that the statue of the Black Nazarene was brought to Napoles' house several times in the past.
"Talagang dinadala yung Nazareno ni Monsignor Ramirez when he was parish priest of Quiapo. We really don't see anything wrong," he said.
Although Tobias said he does not know Napoles personally, he urged her to speak up and reveal all she knows about the alleged misuse of public funds. - ANC
